learning to enjoy the boredom of work

Our lives have taught us that slowness is a bad sign — that if things aren’t moving fast or following a dynamic pattern, something must be wrong.

That if we don’t get instant gratification from something, then it’s not going well.

I first noticed this in relationships. Manic and highly passionate dynamics were somehow equated with meaning, while steady and safe felt dull by comparison.

Our nervous systems have, sadly, been wired into fight-or-flight far too often. Very few people actually have a secure attachment style to life itself.

We don’t realise that slowness often means consistency.
It means we are not being swayed by life.
It means we are embracing the boredom of repetition.

Results from slow, honest work rarely show up instantly.

We need to show up for ourselves regardless of whether the world sees our effort.

We need to remind ourselves that we do the work because we enjoy it.

This is what people mean when they say the journey is the destination.

The day-to-day repetitive tasks slowly build our dreams — brick by brick.

And in the quiet of that effort, we have the chance to hone in on what truly brings us contentment.

Being seen for our work is only a testimony.

The work itself is the end goal.
